Our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month continues! This week, we are highlighting influential Hispanic and Latino people whose contributions connect to the subjects our students study.
🚀 Featured Spotlight: ELLEN OCHOA, ASTRONAUT AND ENGINEER
In 1993, Dr. Ellen Ochoa became the first Hispanic woman to travel to space. She completed four space missions and later became the first Hispanic director of NASA’s Johnson Space Center. An electrical engineer, she also helped invent technology for processing images. Learn more about Ellen Ochoa through NASA.

Science, mathematics, and design and engineering give students opportunities to ask questions, test ideas, and solve problems. Ochoa’s work shows how these subjects can lead to discoveries that help us understand our world.
